Tricks
Rising Ring Take a rubberband and break it. About half way up the rubberband grab the band between you left pointer finger and thumb. Place the ring against your fingers with the rubberband through it and place your right pointer finger and thumb on the other side of the band. Hold the right side up about 45 degrees and slowly let the rubberband out of your left hand. The ring will go up and the spectators won't see the excess band in your left hand. Linking clips Fold a dollar bill in thirds. It should be the front of the bill, middle behind that then the other end behind that. Place a paper clip on the left two front flaps and place a paper clip on the left back two flaps. When you yank the dollar bill apart the paper clips will be linked inside eachother. Light a used match Effect : You take out a box of matches and go to lite your cigarette or candle but when you open them they are all used. You then say I hate that when people put used matches back in the box, oh sorry it was me I hate it when I do that. You then proceed to take out the used match and strike it and it lites. You can have them already stashed in the dirty ashtray and take one out and then lite your ciggy or candle. Secret All you have to do to make it look like it is a used match is dip the match in black ink, and then wait for it to dry. Then dip it in ash and it will look like a used match but when you strike it the match will lite like any normal match Changing Liquid Effect: The magician places a handkerchief over a glass of colored liquid and when he removes it the liquid has changed to water. Secret: Cut a thin piece of colored plastic to fit the glass. Pour water up to the top of the plastic. This will give the illusion that the liquid is colored. When you place the handkerchief on the glass remove the plastic with the handkerchief leaving clear water. Empty Matchbox Effect: The magician shows an empty matchbox and when he close it it becomes full. Secret Preparation: lay a row of matches inside the matchbox cover supported by the edge of the matchbox. When you close the box, the matches on the cover fall into the box. Turning Cups Effect: Magician states he can turn three cups two at a time in with three moves and have them end up all facing up. Then when spectator tries (doing exact same moves) they all end up face down! This can be repeated many times with the same outcome. Presentation: Start with three cups of glasses on a table in following position from left to right: face down, face up, face down. Now take the two cups on right side and flip them over. Then take the two outside cups and flip 'em. Finally flip the two cups on the right side. Of course they end up all facing up. Here's where the trick comes in. Take the middle cup and flip it over while telling a spectator that they're going to do the exact same thing you just did. The cups are now facing, from left to right: face up, down, up. This is different then you started but this won't be noticeable. Tell them to do exactly what you did before, and when they do, they will end up all face down. Quick Mind Reading Trick Ask someone to think of a number between 1 and 50 and say wait before you do that , the 2 digits of the number you are thinking of must be both odd and different ..... then say O.K. I,vie got one ...you think mysteriously and look like in a state of trance and say : 37 because 9 out of 10 times they will pick this number (because you forced them mostly) Magical Matches! Effect: a "charged up" match or toothpick touches another, and is sent about four feet up! Materials: 2 toothpicks or match sticks Presentation: Start off by saying that you have mind control . Take the two sticks and let your audience examine them. Put one stick on your hand leaving 1/3 of the stick sticking out. Take the other stick with your hand and put it under the other stick. Without them noticing, flick the bottom of the stick in your hand with your middle finger. If done right, the stick in your hand should go "jump". If you dont like the mind control idea, say you've mastered the art of static electricity. Pretend to charge up a stick on your shirt. Then let them try. A classic.
Floating Ring Make some really thick salt water. REALLY thick. soak a piece of thread in it somewhere between 45 and 60 minutes. take it out and let it dry. Now you are ready. Ask someone for a ring. Tie it to the end of the thread. Hold the string so its like a pendulum. Now take a match and light the string down by the ring. The string will burn but the salt crystals can hold up a fairly light ring. An awesome effect. For this trick please send me the address for the watch steal effect. Burning a Suger Cube Sugar and cigarette ashes , you can perform a scientific magic trick If you try to light sugar with a flame, it may bubble and melt, but it won't catch fire. Unless you know how to. Challenge the specator to light a cube of sugar, and pass out several cubes of sugar to them. While they are attempting to get one of the sugar cubes to light, secretly get some cigarette ash on your finger tips. Try to get as much as you can. Have the spectator select a sugar cube, and as you pick it up transfer the ash to the sugar cube. Now, hold a flame to the portion of the cube with the ash on it, and it will light easily! "Spinning Pencil" Take a standard wooden pencil, preferably with flat edges (doesn't have a rounded body), place it on the edge of a table and balance it so it freely spins at the lightest touch. Do this quickly so the audience doesn't suspect anything. Then wave your fingers around the pencil in a circular motion like you are summoning the power to move it. Then lightly blow on it while the audience is focused on the pencil. It will seemingly follow your fingertips without you having ever touched it! It takes practice to get your breath to hit it without moving your mouth much, you want to be as subtle as possible! Spinning Egg Spinning egg effect: you spin an egg on the table and it spins well. when the spectator tries, he couldn't make the egg spin well secret: the egg you use is hardboiled and the egg the spectator use is raw. presentation: 1. you show and dish of five eggs and you should know which egg is the hard boiled one. 2. tell the spectator to point to one. if he points to the hardboiled one, tell him you will get that and he picks a different one for him. if he points to the raw one, tell him he is going to use that one and you choose one (making sure you remember to pick up the harboiled one). 3. now spin your egg and ask the spectator if he could do it. 4. the spectator will say "it's easy" or something like that and watch his/her face when he/she can't do it! Beer handcuffs Funny way to make someone helpless. Tell a person in the bar you are going to show them your "beer handcuffs" and ask him/her to put their hands face down on the bar very flat. Then simply take two pints or mugs of beer (full as possible) and place them on top of each hand carefully. They will not be able to move at all with out toppling the mugs. Everyone will laugh and the person will be helpless! Floating cigarette Get a small piece of flexible metal. Bend it so it will fit comfortably around your finger. Cut the metal piece so that a little spike sticks out (I've encluded a picture if you don't get it). Paint the metal piece skin color to make it very hard to see. Interlock your fingers so that your ring finger (the finger with the gimick on it) is facing your chest. Take a borrowed cigarette and stick the filter onto the hook. Hold the cigarette with your thumbs. Let go of the cigarette with your thumbs and move your ring finger back and forth. It looks soooo good and can be done surrounded. Haunted Matchbox This trick involves taking a matchbox and taping a piece of thin fishing wire on the bottom inside of it. Tie a paper clip to the other side and clip it on your pants. Place the string so it goes under your arm and through your fingers. Play around with it and you can get the matchbox to move, stand up by itself and even open. (I've also included a picture) Quick Vanishing Match Effect: A match is held in one hand right before the spectator's eyes. With a sudden jolt of your hand, the match disappears. Secret : The non-striking end of the match is moistened with saliva and placed between forefinger and thumb. As you open your hand (rapidly) the forefinger releases it's hold on the match and the match remains "stuck" to the back of your thumb (Not visible to spectator). You may now show the spectator your completely empty hands (While the match is concealed behind your thumb!! Blancing egg Say to someone to try to stand the egg, they cant.. you take a different egg and stand it upright on the table, still they cant. Secret: lick the bottom of your egg and put salt on it..stand the egg on the salt. when you are finished wipe the salt off your egg on your pants and have them try. please send me the site with the secret to the watch steal. Make Money Ask someone to lend you £20 to put in an empty matchbox, you then also put £20 in. (You must make this obvious that you have also put in £20) Say to them that you will sell them the matchbox for £30. Believing that they are in for a bargain (spending £30 to buy a £40 matchbox). But the trick is that because they already have put in £20 they are in fact losing £10. (In total they have spent £50 for a £40 matchbox, and you get £30 instead of the £20 you started with) I hope you dont already know this trick and I hope to here from you soon. Confetti Egg Effect:
An egg is placed under a hankerchief and is crushed the performer makes a
disgusted face which suddenly turns to a smile as he unwraps the mess
which has changed to confetti. Dissappearing Hanky Effect:
Hankichief Knot with one hand Pull a
handkerchief out of your pocket, keeping the knot hidden in your hand.
Pick up the opposite corner of the handkerchief with the opposite hand,
and grasp it. Snap the handkerchief, releasing the end without the knot.
Pick up the hanging end with the other hand as before and repeat, again
releasing the end without the knot. On the third try, let go of the
knotted end , instead of the expected corner. The movement of the hand
conceals the switch, and makes this a very baffling effect.
Salt Shaker Through The Table Items:

From a small purse you produce a large solid magic wand. Secret: Obtain a
small money purse and cut a small hole at the bottom. Presentation: Have
the wand partly up your sleeve and the other end inside the purse, through
the hole. Show the purse, then open it and slowly pull out the large wand.
This impressive illusion should be practised in front of a mirror. It is a
real fooler and worth the extra little trouble in obtaining a sutible
purse. Card To Matchbox Effect: A playing card changes into a matchbox Secret: Trim a playing card and glue it to the top of a matchbox. Carefully fold the card over the box as shown. Glue a matchbox label on the back of the card so when the card is folded it looks like an ordinary matchbox. Presentation: Show your audience the playing card. The matchbox is hidden behind it. Bring your hand over the card and secretly fold it up over the box. Remove your hand and it seems that you have made a playing card change magically into a matchbox. Glass Through Table If you place a coin on the table and place a glass over it you anounce that the coin will melt through the table you cover the glass with paper and say the magic words and pick up the glass with paper on and its still there secretly drop the cup into your lap(the paper should still stay in the glass shape)anounce that you have failed and place the "cup"over the coin again and casually lean on it let it fall in pick up the remains. it seems that the glass has penatrated the coin and the table! now produce the cup from your lap. the trick is complete. The static ciggarette Tell audiance you can create static electricity fields and rub a table clockwise telling them your creating a positive field. Then rub your two hands togethr very fast saying its a negative field. Place a ciggarette on the table and move your hands about 3inches over it away from over. As you do so gently blow the ciggatrette and it rolls away. For added effect fail a couple of times and continue to repeat the rubbing. Invite someone else to try. (They will Fail) Only compelte the trick a couple of times it gets very obvious. Eventualy say your worn out and your static powers are drained.. Mind Reading The Coin This works best in medium/large groups, try when out with friends down the pub. For this you need a friend in on the trick. Line up 9 coins in a square 3x3 on the table. Look away and invite someone to pick a coin by touching it. Next pick there coin by having a friend place there drink on a beer mat in the corosponding position top left top middle bottom right, middle middle etc. Instead of a beer mat flick cigarette into ash tray in the right position. For added effect stare into the persons eyes your mind reading. [great way to make eye contact with people u like]. Get a couple of friends in on the trick to avoid suspicion. Escaping Match 1.Before
you start slide a match between the cover of a full matchbox and the
bottom of the tray. make sure this match faces the same way as the matches
in the box Mental Cups Effect: magician moves a paper cup without touching it.

Bills From Nowhere
Must be wearing a blazer or a long sleeve, baggy top. Preperation: Take a stack of five or six one-dollar bills. roll them tightly. place the bills in the fold on the top of the elbow of the left arm. pull the fabric of the sleeve over the money and keep the arm slightly bent in order to keep them in place. Performace: With the bills in position face the spectator. pull up your left sleeve from your elbow to show you have nothing on your wrist. during this move grasp the bills from the crook of your sleeve with right hand and conceal them in your palm. now do the same with the right arm to show you have nothing there, either. now put both hands together and reveal the magic in whatever way you think best. Pins Thru The Thumbe Effect: Magician inserts pins through a cloth into his thumb Preparations: Place a carrot in a cloth napkin Secret: The magician places the cloth napkin over his hand, stating he will drive a number of pins through his thumb. The magician has a small carrot hidden in the napkin. When he places the napkin over his hand, he puts his thumb down and places the carrot up through his fist, so as to resemble the thumb. Then he sticks pins through the cloth and into the carrot. After driving all the pins through the carrot, he carefully removes each pin, drops the carrot back into the napkin while removing it, and reveals his thumb to the crowd. Tips: While driving the pins in, magician should have a look of pain and make it appear as though the pins are hard to get in, and are hurting him. Ropes Thru The Body EFFECT : The magicaian takes 2 lengths of rope around his back. He/she ties the top rope in a tight half knot around his/her body. Now 2 members of the audience pull the ropes totally through the magicians body! METHOD : This is the most simple trick I know, there is no secret preparation or faulty ropes. All the magicain has to do is tuck the 2 ropes separately down his/her trousers. Then continue the trick as described above. As long as the ropes are separate and do not get in a tangle, the trick will work perfectly. IF IT GOES WRONG Start again and say that the two members of the audience need more faith in magic. If you tie the half knot tightly, you will notice if you have done it wrong. Cold breath Effect : You pure some water into a coffe mug, blow on it,
and then turns into ice. Super Nail The nail can be split in half because of two magnets together which when you pull the nail splits in two. The rubber tube is just there so you don't knownthe nail can be split. You put the nail in the tube and then you bend it with your fingers a bit so it is in the shape of a 'V' if you do this tright the magnets will not pull together. |
