The Magic of David Blaine
Fly Resurrection

Effect:

The magician points out a dead fly on a window ledge to a spectator. The magician flicks the dead fly
on to their hands to prove it is dead, they cup their hands around it. The magician waves there hand over the dead fly, suddenly the fly comes back to life and flies away!

A real fly is used, no props needed!

Preparation: You first need to catch a large fly e.g. bluebottle (alive) and put it in an empty matchbox.

Method: Put this match box into your freezer for about 3-5 minutes (depending on the type of freezer you have) even less. By placing the fly in to the freezer it puts the fly into hibernation (it goes to sleep). Once the fly is asleep tip the fly out onto any place you want (the best place is a window ledge).

Make sure the fly is not the window ledge for more than about 20 mins or the fly may wake up.

You are now ready to perform the trick you have your dead fly on the window ledge. Get someone's attention and point out the dead fly. Now place the fly in your or their hands it doesn't matter. Their hands s more impressive, but it is easier to do your hands as they may crush it. What happens is the heat of your body wakes it up. It takes about 80 seconds for the fly to wake up. The incantations is just to scare them open your hands and it will flies away.

Tips: You can place the fly on the spectator's out stretched palm this gives an added effect because you gradually see the fly come to life!
