The Magic of David Blaine
2 Card Monte

EFFECT:

Magician places two aces in the spectators hand. The cards are faced down, when the spectator looks at the two cards they have changed to two queens.

Secret Preparation :

Take two aces and two queens, put the cards in this position on top of the deck face down. Ace of clubs, Queen of clubs , Queen of spades, Ace of spades.

Step 1 :

Show the spectator the top card from the deck which is the Ace of clubs. Have the spectator make a fist and take the ace of clubs and put it between the thumb and first finger. The card should be facing down while the spectator is holding the card.

Step 2 :

Now you have to show the spectator the Ace of spades, the best way to do this is to perform a triple lift. You have to turn all three cards over, so it looks like you just turning over the Ace of spades. This part of the trick is tricky to do and does require some practice.

Step 3 :

Once you have shown the spectator the Ace of spades turn it over face down on the deck (with the two queens hidden behind it).

Step 4 :

Take the top card of the deck which is the Queen of clubs, the spectator thinks it's the Ace of spades. Keep the card face down, tell the spectator I will now swap the ace of spades with you. Tell the spectator to hold your card face down on top of their card, at this point take the aco fo clubs the spectator is holding.

Step 5 :

As soon as you take the spectators card ask them a question like "Without looking at your card what card do you think you have ?" While they tell you the answer you have to switch the spectators card with the card on top of the deck which is the queen of clubs. You can quickly do the switch by either putting the spectators card at the bottom of the deck while you take the top card. You can also do another switch where you switch the top card for the card in your hand, try an experiment to see which is the best method for you to use. Remember the switch must look very natural and must performed in a split second so the spectator doesn't see what you are doing.

Step 6 :

As soon as you switch the card place the card (Queen of Spades) in the spectators hand so he is holding both cards. Now ask the spectator and tell him which card is the Ace of clubs and which card is the Ace of spades, keep asking the spectator saying are you sure the Ace of clubs is on top ? Don't you think it's at the bottom ? at this point tell the spectator to turn the cards over. The spectator turns the cards over to reveal the two queens.
